Companies charging interviewees??

If that is an issue at the time, ask an adviser who is free (not interviewing or in a consultation of course) if their phone can be used. The Jobcentre is not in the best of areas (2 security guards!)
Many Jobcentre Plus offices do as standard now. Not a true reflection of area
and he has seen people being ridiculed whilst on these phones by the 'asboids' who are hanging about. Not the most comfortable of situations to take part in a phone interview.
If this is an issue, it should be reported to a security guard or floor-walker (reception point staff) for them to deal with...Looks like he either avoids these companies or I will just have to make allowances for higher phone bills

Good advice there, in an ideal world!
I went to the Jobcentre with him this morning and saw for myself what he means. There was a gang of seven of them, all waiting for a friend to sign on or whatever.
I spoke to one of the security guards, who said he is there to see that there is no trouble, but also said that a middle-aged man was beat up outside the place the other week for complaining that somebody had skipped the queue
Also, I don't think it would sit well with an interviewer if somebody had to ask them to hold while they went to complain about being pestered.
Anyway, the issue is not with the Jobcentres, it is with the large companies who feel the need to give out 0870 numbers to people looking for employment with them. Why not an ordinary number?0 -

Or rather in a world where contracted security did what was asked of them in the contract agreement... (eg. moving people on who have no reason to be there to begin with - sorry, a lil' rant from me!)Anyway, the issue is not with the Jobcentres, it is with the large companies who feel the need to give out 0870 numbers to people looking for employment with them. Sadly, I would assume because it creates extra revenue for very a little amount of resource usage..."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."
