Voltunary Redundancy + Maternity?

My gf has been asked if she wants to take voluntary redundancy, she is currently on maternity pay about 4 weeks now baby due in May.

Can you tell me if she takes the package she has been offered will the maternity pay stop?

or will she still get it? i personally do not think she will but please can someone confirm what would happen.

she should remain eligible for statutory maternity pay as she started maternity whilst still employed.

If the company usually enhances this pay however, then the company may look to cease this extra element. In this instance would advise your GF to negotiate this to continue (and more besides) as part of her redundancy package.

Ask them to lay out what the total package is in detail. If it does not seem enough go back to then and make sure they understand voluntary redundacy is not going to work for her at that rate. If they have offered it to her at this point it is likely they really want her off the books rather than on maternity and may be prepared to up their offer if she seems likely to stay on
