Help with AIC please urgent!

Hi

I'm having a nightmare with this company!

They keep bullying and threatening to send someone round to the house to serve court papers. Am worried sick as my mum's 80 and someone calling around for this would just about finish her off.

Do AIC ever send anyone to the house, please or is it a threat? I can afford to pay in instalments but they say, full amount or it goes to Small Claims.

Please help urgently.

Thanks all

What type of debt is this?

How have you been managing the debt, i.e who have you been paying?
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

As 10past6 has said, we really need to know what the 'debt' is, but, in the meantime, don't worry too much about their threats of a 'house visit'. If they do send someone around, then you need to be aware that that person has no rights other than to 'ask' you if you would like to make a payment. He/she would have no automatic right of entry to your property and no right of 'siezure' of your goods, nor should they imply that they have. You are under no obligation whatsoever to discuss the 'alleged debt' with them. They must, also, leave immediately once you ask them to.

In short, they have about as much authority as your milkman.

Have a look at the OFT Guidelines on Debt Collection, in particular the section on 'Home Visits':

They gave in soon after..and just reviewed my account 6 monthly.

    Horrible, Horrible people these.

Told me they were going to make me bankrupt, told me to borrow the money from my family, told me to "apply to the council for housing as they were going to take my home"!!

I was worried about them at first until I read about them on here (do a search for Allied International Credit).

Next time they called I told the guy to F**k Off!!

They never called again and soon after my debt was passed onto another DCA who have been perfect gentlemen.

DON'T LET THEM GET TO YOU - IT'S WHAT THEY WANT!

These have been the worst DCA I have had to deal with too - I think they get off on trying to bully and scare people - Call their bluff!

If anyone is treated in this disgusting manner by any dca, they should not hesitate to report them to Trading Standards. The Office of Fair Trading is definitely showing a firmer attitude towards 'errant' dcas, but they do need to hear from you.

It's barclays finance - a hp purchase debt that was not kept up. Theyve passed it to AIC.

Please help. Also, I don't know who to pay - dont really know if they have authority?

    Thanks

Softpad - take note of the comments by other people on here who have had dealings with this company. it sounds like they have already had enough rope to hang themselves with from what you say. Have any of these threats been in writing? Either way it is now time for you to get angry and fight back. Listen to people like RAS, rog and 10past6, they know their stuff. Good luck.

  • Have had horrible dealings with these monsters. I want to pay but have been told they are unable to accept the payments. Have spoken to LLoyds TSB who say they are no longer dealing with the debt. Please can any one advise me what to do next.
