I have one child who isn't elidgible for a CTF voucher and one who is. I have invested the voucher and will not be adding to it incase he fritters it away.
I'd like to save for both of them but don't know if there's anything available that will give better returns than a simple cash savings accounts which they both already have. I don't mind a bit of risk as it's over 18 ish years but not high risk. Grateful for any advice!

Hi hr and welcome to the site
.
The good news is that saving outside the CTF in equities is cheaper and therefore may offer better returns.
You are right to think that saving regularly over 13+ years reduces risk, while keeping open the opportunity for potentially significant returns.0 -
hi and welcome
Myself and others have been asking the same questions on other threads so it may well be worth taking some time to read those posts
Also as a starting point Martin's article in investments on CTF (on this site)http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1108986373,87407, and
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1089574348,16470,
I still have not decided on what fund but I have decided to keep control, in case they fritter it away, as you say0
