Sky+ HD - Unhappy with Replacement

Hi - Has anyone else been affected by the current recall of Sky HD boxes?

I had mine replaced yesterday (which, as an aside means i've missed my first ever episode of Lost  ), and i'm far from happy with the replacement. The Hard Drive is noticably more audible and rewinding live TV is "jumpy".

Before I complain to Sky, has anyone else had a similar experience? It's frustrating as the original box worked fine (even the Sky Engineer said he didn't know specifically what was wrong with the Pace boxes).

I read somewhere that Thomson boxes are also of inferior quality, which is what my replacement box is. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? If so i'll push for a replacement that is neither a Pace or a Thomson (which only leaves Samsung I think).

There are plenty of people out there who are happy with the Thomson HD boxes, on the upside, Thomson owners are the first to get the new EPG.

You probably got a refurb box, was it in a brown box or the brightly coloured Sky HD branded ones?

I read on digitalspy about some newish Pace customers who got brand new replacement boxes under the scheme, quite rightly if they had only just paid to get Sky HD. Is this you? or have you been a customer with HD for a while?

As a side note, my Thomson HD box has been faultless so far (touch wood) 19 months.

It was in a brown box, so must have been a refurb. I've had HD about 6 months, so i'm a newish customer.

I'm feeling even more aggrieved now!
