  • reading between the lines it seems youve tried to hang on to this man for a long time and perhaps using your son which he resents, you need a different tactic, so to speak, obviously the one you use doesnt work. try something different, try something like, 'your son doesnt want to ask he feels shy, but he was wanting those new trainers thats out at the moment' all his friends has them ect

put no pressure on him, manipulate him in a different way then you wll get differrent results,

    this is only my opinion,

i.e use differnt bait get differnt result :)
  • i know its frustrating but a change and trying is better than nothing

    Charlie,

I have tried it from all angles, I promise you.

Asking him to pay for school uniform, son wanting something and then I suggest he asks his Dad, which he does, asking him to buy school shoes on the day he has him, asking him to look after son while I work, so I save on childcare etc. etc. He's not a nasty person, he just doesn't want to take responsibility. I certainly don't hate him.

Nothing works. He simply doesn't want to ensure his son has a decent life. I think 6 years is a long time to be patient. I'm not angry or bitter but I just think if I don't go down this route, son will look back and say to me "why did you let me go without things, when Dad should have been made to pay his share". At eleven, he has already said virtually the same thing.
