I have an LG 32pg6000 plasma TV that is HD Ready. The thought of watching High Definition broadcasts appeal to me but I'm struggling with the different option combinations. My TV is 1024 x 768 so although I won't get the full effect of HD there should still be a noticeable improvement, is that right ?I can choose between Sky HD or invest in a BluRay player. If I subscribe to Sky HD inc movies pack then I should get around 30 channels in HD whereas a BlueRay player means I have to pay £ 3.95 everytime I want to rent a movie.I'm dying to see what HD would look like on my TV and am aware that the BBC broadcast programmes in HD-would this be the standard of HD I could expect from Sky HD ?

Dont buy a blueray player, find a mate who has a PS3(?) that play blueray and borrow that and see whats its like watching a film. Then decide what to do.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

You will only be able to watch BBC HD using an HD reciever of some description. The options are Sky HD, Freesat HD or cable HD if available. Freesat HD is probably the cheapest option, but you'll need a dish and a Freesat HD box. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.

Ive had Sky HD since it came out in June 2006. BBC HD for some reason is stunning, i dont know if its anything to do with bitrates etc but the picture I get on BBC HD is noticeably better than other HD channels. Thats not to say other HD channels arent good too. I love watching sport in HD. MotoGP on Eurosport HD if far better than standard def. I was considering getting rid of the HD subscription because of the cost but the wife wont hear of it, she likes HD too much to give it up now. Dont worry about the telly definition, you will still see a marked improvement in picture quality. As for who to go eith, well im with sky but i really hate the way they do business and there are things on sky1 that we all watch. I have no experience of any other providers(freesat etc). My advice would be to ask a friend who has HD to let you see the picture quality and make a decision then. Good luck !!0
