helllppppppp .. I have read through all the relevant posts and am further confused. I am currently using windows media 10 , I have my songs sat ready to burn but it tells me that Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD, verify that the disk is clean and not damaged (they are brand new) If necessary select a slower recording speed (?????) or try a different brand of discs.
So far i have tried DVD+RW Packard Bell 4.7GB, TDK Cd-R80 up tp 52x speed and Tesco CD-RW 12x rewriteable ? I am soo confused ? Have i bought the correct disks ? ?
If i have bought the wrong discs seeing as i have opened the packets can i use these disks for anything else ?
I have a dell dimensions 4600 pc I did ring them yesterday as we took out a 3 yr warrranty, I got more confused as i was speaking with a very helpful Indian gentleman but the call was soo technical, I was soo confused, and he told me i should be using the sonic software that came with my pc, and i thought that was for films or pictures ?
can anyone out there gently advise ? please
Many thanks.

Best to try a few things first of all. (note your brand of blank DVD's or CD's shouldn't matter, so long as they are recordable and at a minimum capable of storing data)
What kind of writer/burner (drive) have you got i.e. DVD or CD?
Has your machine assigned your drive a letter? (You can check this by inserting a disc and looking for it via My Computer or Windows Explorer)
Will your drive read/play any of your CD's or DVD's?
Go to the microsoft site and download any patches for Media Player 10. Let Microsoft scan your machine it will identfy and fix any MS problems
hope some of this helps

how do i get microsoft to scan my machine, sorry i want to avoid another call to india if i can ! it didnt realy help me much.

Are you trying to make an audio CD? You will need to use one of your CDR's in the CDRW drive.
I suggest downloading some type of burning software like Nero which has a simple burning wizard.0 -
sometimes it is something simple like the size of the song you want to burn not being recognized so look down the list of songs in your library and if there are some not showing their size play them and the size should then be recognized and it may then burn....0

The sonic software is a cd/dvd burning software and is pretty easy to use once you get used to it (binned myself and use Nero which came free with a drive I got) basically use DVD's for buring large amounts of data or DVD films use CD's for audio or small amounts of data.
It's been a while since I've used Sonic for burning so I can't help you on the settings to use, but on Nero you need to choose if your doing a dvd or cd. Never got on with trying to burn through Windows media so again can't help you thereWelcome, rogerramjet.

Funky what do you mean when you say that you have all your songs ready to burn?
I assume you are aware that normally, before you can burn music onto dc's you have to have them in your files in mp3 or wma form. ie. starting with an audio cd you first have to rip the music into your files and this transforms them into mp3 or wma files.
Then you burn those files back to audio files on blank cd's.
(at least that's the way I do it)I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
