sdhc sandisk problems

Help I don't know what to do next. Bought a digiframe for mother in law and this 4gb sdhc card. Went to upload photos from pc to card and nothing. Tried card in laptop and found the portable device in my computer (or vista equivalent) and copied and dragged a pic to it. Then it stopped and disappeared. Now no portable drive to be found and neither can I find the card from my mobile which I have used to download before. I have picasa loaded too and normally it auto downloads when I put a memory card into slot but now nada. The first photo did upload to the sdhc card too as it is on the digiframe. Why has my computer stopped seeing the cards, I have switched computer off too, it is driving me bonkers!
