hello all
i have reinstalled vista on my computer and would like to know how i can keep all my music on my ipod when i reinstall itunes, it took me ages to
load all my cds on the ipod.

Use YamiPod to copy the music from your iPod to your computer, following the instructions here.

Alternatively, if you don't want to do that, you can stop it syncing by holding down shift + ctrl while plugging your iPod in, and keep them held down until your sure the iPod has loaded. Then you can go into the iPod options and choose to manually manage the music on it.

I've used EphPod (sorry not allowed to post the link as I'm a new member) with excellent results. I'ts a bit of a pain but you use that to copy the songs from the ipod to the hard drive, you then install itunes and point it to the copied music. Then you plug in the ipod. itunes will ask you if you want to format the ipod and sync it with the computer, this will sync the ipod and re-install all of the music on it.
