Recieved a letter from Scottish Power, they are putting up my monthly DD from £70 to £122!!!! I always paid £70 a month when I was with EDF and the majority of the year I was in credit. I swithed to a fixed rate with Scottish Power because they guaranteed they would be cheaper and now I am paying out almost double a month. I haven't called them yet as I am too angry, what can I do???

As you are on a fixed rate, they obviously haven't increased the price, so you must have consumed more.

Of course you will pay more if you consume more!

What can you do? Reduce consumption ;)

You obviously checked the tariff details to make sure that the kwh costs with SP were less than you were paying with EDF, so, as said, you must be using more kwh and it's therefore costing more. It's the kwh cost that's fixed, not the DD.

Also, depending on when you switched, EDF prices are probably higher than they were when you were paying them. As advised, you need to cut back if you want to pay less. How many kwh do you use on day on average and how does this compare to how many you used this time last year with EDF?
