I have used the wash balls in the past, I persevered with them for long enough to realise that they were pants......not only that but because I sweat in the summer I also had to throw away a number of tops as I couldn't get them properly clean afterwards (I now know of course that soaking them in bicarb would have worked) but as for the balls no thanks.....
  • I was considering trying these at one point, but I don't think I'll bother now.
  • the qvc shop in warington had 20'000 sets that had been returned they was selling them off at a pound per set.

There is a way to test the results of the wash using an eco ball versus washing with water in an unbiased manner...........but could anyone be bothered to do it?

I used to work in a research and development lab, testing soap powders and fabric softeners. I've bored the pants off people before so I won't go into detail again.

  • I wonder if I'm using the same product as the people who've had a "pants" experience. Mine does around 1000 washes using 3 Eco-balls. One of the sites mentioned above has one ball that does 80 washes. Perhaps things have moved on since you had your bad experiences and the original reviews were done. "This Morning" were impressed with the Eco-balls, so they can't be so bad. Also I'm not daft and they work for me. My washing (even muddy dog towels) comes out clean and smelling good. I accept that Eco-balls contain no bleaching agent, so I do a soap-powder wash every couple of weeks to keep my "difficult" items looking good - that's one in about 12 washes.

By the way, have you heard the results of recent research into causes of asthma in children? It seems that the more household chemicals you use, the more likely your children are to be asthmatic. It seems to me that cutting down on those chemicals wherever possible can do nothing but good, and in this case will save you money too!
