How much for a new front door?

Options
We need a new front door for your house but I've no idea how much this might cost. We are just after a white PVC door, nothing fancy - what would be a fair price for supply and fitting?

Comments

  • Depends on the quality and also on the number of windows/design.

However you should be able to have one installed for around £600/£700.

I had 2 fitted a few weeks ago, the difference in quality over a few weeks that I was looking was massive, there were £425 fully fitted ones up to £1200 fully fitted ones, all upvc not the composite ones.

Was told by the cheaper companies that the dear ones were a rip off, was told by the dear companies that the cheap doors were rubbish quality that were flimsy and locks and hinges/fittings would drop/fail quickly, and were fitted (thrown in) as quickly as possible.
To be fair I did have a look at the cheap ones and they were flapping about when opened, ended up going for the £700 ish range and am most impressed, good solid door/frame/locks/hinges/letterbox and were fitted and finished off (trim etc) very well.
  • for a good quality door and frame with quality furniture and fittings your looking at a starting price of £500

And about £150 for fitting, so i wouldn't touch a door that was being supplied and fitted by a company for less than £600.

I am having a new front door fitted in a couple of weeks time and did a lot of research on this. Most UK sites on the net unfortunately seem to be for DIY fitment.

I did find this site which has some fully-fitted prices quoted:

I decided to go for a composite door which is higher security, comes in a range of colours, is made to measure and is thicker (44mm rather than 28mm uPVC) which came in at £803 all-in:

I did have quotes for £1000+

    Thanks
