MDF Bath Panel

Keeping up with their recent attack on my bathroom, my kids have now destroyed my bath panel (just a cheap acrylic one), so I'm looking at making my own more robust panel.
A friend has told me that he had one made by a local company from MDF, however they charged him over £250 for the pleasure of doing this, but it does have fancy mouldings routed into it.
Now I'm not looking to do anything like this, I just want a sleek, plain, flat panel, with rounded over edges. Painted white.
My question is how would I seal the MDF so that water does not damage it.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Have just bulit my own panel with panels and mouldings.
No real experience of what is best in this situation, but have done the following:
I used two good coats of undercoat, and two good coats of satin gloss.
not sure if an expert would suggest something else.Baby-Mechanic
The only reason I keep smiling is so that people wonder what I've been up to !!0 -

We bought an MDF bath panel from Wickes and it says if you cut it then seal the exposed MDF with varnish.0 -
I had an MDF bath panel made quite a few years ago. It is painted with primer, undercoat x2 and gloss x2. Never had any trouble with it at all. Mind you we are careful about water spillage. I do not know what it would be like if your kids soaked it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
You should use moisture resistant MDF (green)- If you use normal MDF and it gets wet then it will swell big time!0

If you can find it, buy an end-grain sealer or a polyester sealer to seal the edges before painting. As said before, get moisture resistant MDF and use polyurethane spray primer and topcoat.
£250 is very steep for having a piece cut, you're right just to get it yourself.0
