TV Dead after 18 months

Tiredout
I brought a new 42" LCD tv around 18 months ago and within weeks we had to call an engineer in who did repair the problem but again a few months later we had another problem. Since having the tv we have had to have 4 engineer visits the last one being Oct 08, now again the tv is not working properly and when I called Sharp regarding this I was advised it was my problem now as the tv is out of warranty. Please can someone tell me if I have any rights here, it doesn't seem right that a tv can fail within 18 months of purchase and I have to bear the cost or repair.
