Alliance & Leicester- match overdraft offer
Comments
-
don't know if this is useful info or not - so sorry if not..
I applied 5 days ago online for an A and L account and had immediate agreement by email ( this was at 11pm!) within 2 days i had a letter with my account details and an agreed overdraft of 1500 . I have 3000 at lloyds so will have to see if they will match it - but if not 1500 for nothing isn't too bad. I intend to go and change my lloyds to a regular free account...
i have to send off for a cheque book if i want one but everything else seems to have been done..
will update if they grant my 3000 overdraftBaby due 4th May 2013
January grocery challenge £2000 -
Hi - I applied for the Premier current account in December. I requested a £2000 overdraft matching service. I received all the bumff associated with opening the account apart from any mention of the overdraft matching facility. My account was opened and an overdraft of £170 put on it. I wrote to Alliance and Leicester two weeks ago and got a letter saying that I needed to satisfy the following criteria in order to get the overdraft matched:
30 day bank statement showing I have paid in £500 per month.
A letter to quote the existing current overdraft limit.
Must have been in credit for two days in the month and not exceeded existing agreed overdraft limit.
Minimum of three direct debits on existing account.
Authority to transfer (direct debits) form.
"Until this information had been received your overdraft will remain at the originally agreed amount"
I have satisfied all these requirements apart from the "been in credit for two days" part. I haven't been in credit for years - so I obviously wouldn't be applying for an overdraft if I had been in credit!
My issue with Alliance and Leicester is that I never agreed to have a £170 overdraft (I have no idea where they calculated that figure from). I asked for a £2000 overdraft matching service on my application to open the account. I never received any further correspondence until I sent them a letter asking why I didn't have a matching overdraft.
I couldn't find anything on their website terms and conditions stating that you had to be in credit (and I did a lot of checking before and after applying for the account).
Has anyone else found the exact terms and conditions on the A&L website - as stated on my letter?
Is there anything we can do to claim unclear wording of terms and conditions / unfair practice - something like that?
How are you meant to prove the above criteria on your PREVIOUS current account for the CURRENT month, AFTER the account has been switched?
I'm confused.
Any help - please! Thanks.DEBT-FREE AS OF JULY 2012!!!
