my electric boiler has broken. I checked the socket and the fuse in it has melted its casing. Instead of calling out a guy to change the socket im gonna risk my life changing it myself. I went to BnQ and got a replacement. When i got home i kinda got scared haha Its the off peak economy 7 that is not working on the boiler the boost function works fine. In my fuse box there is a switch which says offpeak Im guessing that must be the one that cuts power to the boiler? then i will be safe i guess it there a more certain way to check if the socket is still live?

Sounds Like you need an eletrician! I don't think you are talking about just changing a standard 3 pin plug and you also need to find out why it has melted next time it could be a propper fire!0

Simple enough to do. But if you do not have the knowledge to be able to know that the power is off for certain, then you are not really competent to tackle this job.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

oh god!!
People like you are the sole reason everyone else is paying thru the nose for Part P compliance. You are obviously NOT competent to do the job but will not pay someone who is to do it properly, proffesionally, and (more importantly) SAFELY!!0
