Boiler developed clanking noise & vibration!

Options
Hi

I have a Bosch Worcester Greenstar Junior 28i combi boiler that's now just over 2 years old. Over this winter it's developed a couple of very annoying problems and I wondered if anyone could help with suggestions as to what could be wrong with it as I had it serviced yesterday and was told it was nothing to worry about (though they obviously didn't know the problem). It's worth mentioning that both hot water and heating are both working as they should.

First issue is with an annoying clank coming from the boiler area. When I turn on a hot tap anywhere in the house you hear the boiler kick in then clank really loudly. This also happens when the heating is on and it periodically fires up itself. When the tap is turned off you also occasionally hear 3-4 clanks that fade away.

The second issue is with vibration. This is more so as the boiler is heating the water and worse when the boiler is shutting off i.e when a tap is turned off. It's a very deep vibrating noise you can hear almost anywhere in the house and the boiler is in the loft and we live in a 4 bed detached so you can imagine how loud it is. Last saturday when the heating was on and we were in, the boiler was sounding as if a car was running outside the house so I shut the thing down for a bit. Saturday was the worst it's been and it was quite scary!

If anyone can shed some light on these problems I'd be grateful. The local plumber/corgi gas guy was here yesterday as I mentioned and the service through up nothing. When I demonstrated the clank by turning a tap on he said it's nothing to worry about and is probably the pump just kicking in. It's all dutch to me but wondered if it's worth getting the official bosch people in or will that cost a fortune now it's outside of it's 2 year warranty?

Many thanks

Have you tried bleading the radiators? I had to do it this weekend as I removed a radiator, had to cut back the pipe work for some building work, and got an airlock. At this point I should point out I'm not a plumber but while you're waiting for one of the pros to reply it might be worth giving ago as it is most definitely a user serviceable part and can do very little harm.

Yep, this is one of the first things I had a go at and still the same. I was kind of hoping the problem would come up as a result of the service but the guy didn't seem troubled by it.

Update on the clank noise, after a period of listening to the boiler, sad I know but you just can't help it, I've got further info which I hope helps anyone to understand what's going on:

When Heating on : 1, Occasional clank noise as boiler kicks in and shuts itself off.
2, Clank after 1 or 2 seconds when a hot tap is run

When Heating off: 1, When hot tap runs theres no clank.

So something to do with the heating or a more general thing?

Vibration noise still as reported, sound rises as boiler kicks in, deep vibrating sound drops down to a steady vibration then shuts off. Clanking noise of 2 or 3 clanks to fade out.

Can't you tell this is driving us crazy? Any suggestions I can put to my plumber greatly appreciated.
