Or Rightmove is feeling pressure from Estate agents leaving it using other web sites (Lower fee's) and is trying to drum up business as a reason for EA to keep using it...0

EAs hacve been deserting rightmove in thier droves, plenty of evidence of that!
Prices have not bottomed I love the way they are saying that- how do rightmove know more than the IMF? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Which websites are people moving to then? And how are those other websites persuading people to buy?

Rightmove is like Ebay, the biggest and most used, but not the only one, but they know they the biggest and can charge the most in fee's. Primelocation and Fish4 are others, but not as heavily used. A few of the local EA's have stopped using RM saying they jacked the fee's up and they don't see the benefit over other sites.
At the end of the days its the EA's choice, and the vendors will pick an EA according to there ability to sell, not who they advertise with. Most buyers will be signed up to a few proprty website, (we did) so it doesn't matter which site they come from it matters they are seen by the potential vendor, and at the end of the day the local rag is jsut as useful if you buying in your local area.0 -
if you were to believe the property section of my local paper, it's been a fantastic time to buy for the past six months. said property section funnily enough makes its money from advertising for EA's. take it with a pinch of salt.
does anyone know how rightmove actually makes its money? does it charge a flat fee for advertising via the site, with extra for premium listings? does it charge a commission on a sales basis? or a click-through basis? would be interesting to know.plus ça change........0 -
i only ever use rightmove, cant stand the others, too slow, too cumbersome and not user friendly enough0

In my case (ex agent) it was a sizable fee every month and I could list as many as I wanted.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

As a buyer, I use primelocation - which is great for it's map search facility
Globrix for it's user friendly and good filtering options
And Rightmove, which I only use because of propertybee and because for whatever reason some EA properties are only on rightmove and not my preferred choice - primelocation/globrix
If propertybee would include primelocation and globrix it would make me very happy.
My ideal site would be Globrix with a map search, propertybee and allowing private vendors to advertise their homes.0 -
If prices are about to rocket in London, no doubt Rightmove's owners are buying heavily to boost their company income and enjoy handsome future profits. No? Thought not.Been away for a while.0
