We are moving tomorrow, buying a new house 6 miles away from where we live now every one this last week has been saying what you moving for we will never see you again i said we are only going 6 miles away not 300 miles. Then they are saying you have a lot of memories in this house, i said yes buy we will take them with us its so silly its up to us when all said and done to tell you the truth i never thought we would have moved from this house but things change. Has anyone else been in this situation with other people.

I think you are both right.

It's like a childhood friend you were really close to... and have now drifted apart, now it sounds really cold, but you might not care about that person anymore!

For some people 6 miles is the same as the other side of the world.

Your new home will be there ready to fill with special memories.

I remember moving 50 yards away and eveyone said I was mad. It was the same house exactly but detached not semi and it helped me move up the housing ladder. It was in the days when a house was a home NOT a 'money making' thing.

I've never applied any sentimental significance to the houses i have lived in really, so i don't get why people would say that either. I take my memories with me wherever i go. :)

To be honest as well, sometimes when you move that bit further away you see some people more often. I don't know why, but that just happens! Or it did with us anyway.

I knew I was selling to rent because prices were going to tank, but it wouldn't have been very tactful to explain that.
