redundancy money - where to save it??

I am about to be made redundant and will be taking the opportunity to move to a new career that I really want to try as I am SO bored with the one I am in now - so good news apart from the new salary which is peanuts against what I was earning. But life is not just about money right?
So the advice I need is on where to put my redundancy money (about £45k after tax) which I intend to use for my sons accomodation when at university - 2 start in Sept (different places), the third two years later. Any advice gratefully received!
