these days it seems that a female can name any male as a father on a birth certificate, (see new laws, esp, re: ivf babys).

As far as im aware this cannot happen in the normal run of things. IVF notwithstanding. The babys father must be present (or any male for that matter ) at regsitration for the name to be on the birth certificate.

Things used to be like that in the old days which caused mayhem within familes.

If its changed back again then its the most stupid thing i could think of.
I am quite happy to be corrected.

this is unethical and immoral in my opinion. Please if you know your babys father always, always always tell the truth and name him, can you imagine seeing your own birth cert and it says 'father unknown' ?, potential for mentally destroyful situation.

dads it seems have no rights these days except in the fact they must pay money money money, its so sad, dads are loving just like mothers and love and want involvment in care and nurture, ok they are different to us and may have different opinions and different ways of doing things, men and women are different but thats what makes the world go round.

can i also add that if you get a job for 16 hours a week you will be far better off money wise and csa will not have to be involved,

you can then claim
income support
working tax credit
child tax credit
child benefit
housing benefit
council tax benefit
and get all csa payment, (but you can also have a private arrangement between you and him) therefore keep csa out of it, and al this for 16 hours of work a week which isnt much really. i know that jobs are hard to find these days but even two cleaning jobs for example a week for 8 hours each will enab,e you to claim all this, and before you say anything cleaning is a good job as if it wernt for cleaners people wouldnt be able to go to work, but apart from that it gives you the money, access to al these benefits and plenty time on your hands to do what you really want to do oh i forgot to add you can also get childcare at 80% paid for, not bad really

i am a single mum to 2 children, working 16 hrs a week and am £20 a week worse off than i would be if i didn't work and was just on benefits!! their father is in prison (violent relationship) so doesn't pay any money, am i right in thinking from this that if he paid money then i would get to keep it as well as everything else i get? how is this fair, it's not my fault he's in there!

not sure to the answer to that but if the answer is yes then that is very unfair on people like you and cases such as yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
