MBNA.account in dispute but still sold to DCA, WHAT NEXT?

Sent mbna cca requests approx 5 weeks ago on 2 credit card accounts with MBNA ,enclosed £1 for each and sent recorded delivery, sent the 12 days dispute letters also recorded , not heard a dickie bird, no acknowledgement ..nothing!until today and I have now had a letter from LINK FINANCIAL saying they now own the debt.
only forced into this as mbna were hassling me constantly to pay more as I was on a dmp and they were freezing intrest but I could not increase my payments.
how do I handle this now? no cca from MBNA ,I put them in dispute and yet they have still sold the debt on, I thought they could not do this, please help
Also what can I expect from LINK? DO i CCA THEM NOW?

I got a letter from Link financial today ref a GE Capital Bank debt (Evans store card)

They are a DCA - http://www.linkfinancial.eu/uk/index.html who have bought the debt for a fraction of the amount owed, so i beleive.

MNBA should not have sold the debt on as you were disputing it, and i think you should write to Link telling them this and MNBA and copy the OFT in as well.

(if that's wrong advise, someone will say!!)

  • i have a sneaky feeling this is about to happen to me too. i CCA'd mbna and within the 12+2 period they wrote to tell me my account had been sold on so i will just send the dispute letter to whichever DCA it is! same thing happened with Egg
