Out of control 08 parking fines

Hi...today i recieved 8 recovery orders from Northampton County Court for unpaid penalty charges incurred during 6 months of stupidity last year. Im not a habitual parking fine collector and all the tickets were, im sure justified:o:o.

I want to face up to these and get them paid but my work as a carpenter is becoming thin on the ground and im worried about balliffs visiting the house i share with my girlfriend - could anyone advise what my best course of action is?

Could i get the charges passed back to Carrick District Council the issuing authority and make an offer of installments as they have doubled now they are with the CC and there doesnt seem to be a installment option....?

Kind Regards
Alec

Kinda technically they are still with the Council until the deadlines given on the OfRs, then Warrants will be issued for bailiffs to act.

    Try talking to them?

TEC will not get involved at all beyond processing of the Warrants. Waste of time asking them in these circumstances.

You MUST pay now or make an arrangement as you said or some serious bailiff fees will get added.

PS 'doubled' does not make sense?? Explain please.

Presumably you ignored all of these earlier? Not appeal any?

Cheers Neil - yes sorry the original fines were £70 and they have now increased to £110. Yes earlier demands were ignored through moving properties and a hectic personal situation.

So can i write to the issuing Council, Carrick and ask for a payment plan?

    Many Thanks
    Alec

Well yeah but given timescale i'd be on the phone pronto. (keep time and name records and confirm by e-mail or letter).

if you are asking if there is any specific right to expect a payment plan - then no, not that i am aware. You are into the realms of common sense and discretion. It would be nasty of them to let a bailiff have it if you are offering to pay them directly. If they did then I suppose, purely from common sense again, involve a local Councillor to support you.

It will also be reliant on their particular policy. Again, beyond OfR, no particular Statute governing how they approach it in your circumstances. Some Councils take 'attitude' of waiving all involvement once OfR stage is reached. It's important then to make sure you talk to someone with some authority - not a clerk who might follow standard inconsiderate procedure.
