Problem with new IPod Touch - help!!

I need some help with my daughters new IPod touch. She just received it today and plugged it into our computer via the usb port on the front but it comes up with the Hardware Wizard asking for a software disc. I don't have a disc and the itouch is just not recognised.

Please help

Thanks

i'd give that a go first seeing as you NEED itunes for the ipod touch to work.

you will need to plug the ipod touch into the computer with itunes installed & running otherwise the touch will just display a connect to itunes image

We already have itunes installed as she had an ipod nano before and i thought we could just plug in this new one and go!!

Could it have something to do with the USB port on the front of my computer?

I think you need to have iTunes 8 installed to be able to use an iPhone/iPod Touch.
