Nationwide E Bond Maturity Date and options

Hi,

I have just opened a Nationwide E Bond, just wondering what my options are on maturity, anyone with any experiences of the options?

Its just it matures on Friday 25th September. On the certificate it states your bond matures on Friday 25th September.

Does this mean i have access to the money on Friday 25th September?

Or do i have to wait until Saturday 26th September to have access to the money?

It just i want to know can i make a CHAPS transfer on the Friday to my Forex account for currency exchange or will i have to wait until the Monday?:mad:

Thanks for any help!!

PS. Do i earn any interest today, or does it start tommorrow?

    From memory (it's a while since I last had one of these) the balance is paid, on maturity, into an e-Bond Maturity Account.

    I can't recall when the maturity account is created and the balance appears (whether it's on the date of maturity or the following day).

    In order to CHAPS the funds, you'd probably first have to transfer them from the maturity account into your Flex Account.
  • On the date of maturity, the e-bond becomes an instant access account (e-bond maturity account) and you can transfer the money to your flexaccount.
  • Guys, thanks very much for both of your replies. Much appreciated.

    So just to reiterate? Can i;

    On Friday 25th September, my funds become instant access. So the Nationwide transfer my funds into a e-Bond Maturity Account, or my e-bond becomes a e-Bond Maturity Account with instant access on Friday 25th September.

    So on Friday 25th September,at 9am i can go online, transfer my funds from the e-Bond Maturity Account, into my Flex account. Then go into my local branch, along with a filled out CHAPS form, and make a same day transfer to my forex account on Friday 25th September. So my funds reach my forex account on Friday 25th September.

    Thanks again for all your help!!!

    You can certainly tranfer the funds instantly from the maturity account (as soon as it is shown in your online banking).

    If it shows on the Friday, then I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to complete the CHAPS transfer the same day.
