Scottish & Southern Telesales - Scam/Phishing?

Options
I just had a phonecall from Scottish & Southern trying to get me back (I switched from them to a fixed rate deal with Sottish power last August), apparently I was one of their 'best' customers (I'd only been with them about 14 months before I switched) and they would offer me the best deal, I asked what the rate he was offering was and he said there was nothing to worry about it was definately the best deal available to me and it would all come in the post in the next few days, I asked if could I see the rate on-line and he said no we deal straight with you on the telephone, when I stated I would like the rate to compare with my current provider he said not to worry, there is a seven day cooling off period within which to make my decision. Then he tried to get my bank details off me, so I said I was not happy to enter a contract without knowing the rate and he asked if there was anything else he could do to persuade me to come back to them, I then said all you need to do is tell me the rates and he said fine they'll do that and hung up!!

Sorry - a bit of a ramble - but has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if it was actualy a scam call to try and get my bank details?
