Help- where can i get help re a solicitors bill?

Can anyone help? I got divorced in 2000 and paid one bill of£1400 and then was sent another for £1800. I had a problem with my solicitor in as much as she kept agreeing to stall a settlement as my ex husband was changing solicitors - several times - and my house was going up in value. I was never told why it took over 18 months to settle. My house had increased in value by over £45,000 and I had to pay my ex much more as a result. (I had to cahnge solicitors in the end and the whole thing was over in 3 weeks)
I quieried the 2nd invoice and voiced my complaint. Iwas told someone would look into it. I never heard anymore. Then in 2004 I was sent a letter saying \i had 30 days to pay or they would take me to court.
I sent them copies of my originall letter of complaint which I expalined no-one had responded to and wrote to the Solicitors Compaints Bureau who tol me I should have done somthing within 6 months of my first letter in 2001.
I never heard anymore.
This week I returned from my honeymoon to discover another letter demanding £1800 from the solicitor by 13 March or they will take me to court, but I still haven't ever had a relpy to my original letter of complaint and answers to any of my questions.
I am at my wits end. Who can I turn to? I want to know if they are able to ask me after 5 years - who can I get help from?

Ring the Law Society for the local area. I think they keep financial checks on the solicitors and make sure they are doing the right thing.0
