Hi from another lone parent.
You could try contacting these people:
http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/26739472/
Other than that these people have a lot of very cheap holidays:
http://www.travelscope.co.uk
Or sometimes your local Gingerbread group will organised subsidised holidays or days out with the children.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Thanks for the effort u have gone to .............. have looked into this a little myself and most of the sites that offer info on lone parent holidays want a £5 membership fee. £5 from a lone parent buget is a massive amount.
Looked on the site (travelscope and a weeks holiday in october was 3 times as much as traveling with one of the more popular holiday companies ............... sometimes I think there just out to take advantage.
Thanks anyway.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
I'm going on a Travelscope break tomorrow to Germany. It's costing £49.50 each for 3 nights B&B with travel there right from your front door or convenient pick up point. I dont think thats expensive for what you getdebs626 wrote:Looked on the site (travelscope and a weeks holiday in october was 3 times as much as traveling with one of the more popular holiday companies ............... sometimes I think there just out to take advantage.

Shop around.
Look at DIY deals. If you keep an eye on offers posted places like here, you can find all sorts of deals! In the school Easter holidays, I found BMI flights from Manchester to Majorca for £40 return each! I then booked an apartment from www.somewhere2stay.com for £49 for the week. Bargain or what! I did hire a car for the week for convenience, but it would have been cheaper still using taxis and buses once out there.
Also look at paying adult fare for one or both of the children. Quite often free or reduced price children don't count towards occupancy in rooms/apartments, so you get a supplement slapped on, which can make it more expensive than paying for 3 adults.
If you shop in Tesco, you can spend your clubcard points on Haven holidays. £2.50 worth of points is worth £10 of Haven vouchers. Children like the holiday parks as there are lots of things to do, and modern static caravans are really comfortable. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Unfortunately for the parent they can also be one of the lonliest places going too.
I usually book everything independently, flights, hotels where you pay the room price not per person etc. I detest being ripped off by the holiday companies.
Other than that join some of the various single parent groups on the internet, I am a member of a few where trips, holidays are organised by various members and can fit the budget better.

I looked at a Croatia holiday, worked out to be over £800 to fly from london and I live in Yorkshire
to go the same time - october - was £250 and flying localy - with thompson.
I just took a quick look and couldnt see anything I fancied or anything that woud entertain my 10 year old.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
