Gaz - remember that is now LAW to carry a reflective jacket in the car with you ( yes ! not in the boot/truck - IN the car ) when travelling in France. You also must have a warning triangle ( now law ) plus headlight beam reflectors, spare headlight bulbs and a first-aid kit. The RAC and AA sell them in kits, also Halfords and Tesco. Oh and you must have a GB sticker on your car if you don't have the new EU number plates. Check which contries require what - but as you are starting in France and to avoid the €200 on the spot fine ( pay up on the spot or leave your car on the road side and walk to get money from an ATM ) make sure you have that reflective jacket.
Good tip, place the reflective jacked over a seat ( like the seat is wearing it ) so you don't get pulled over in the traffic checks - or shove it on your dash as you approach one and they will wave you though. ( since you GB number plate sticks out like a sore thumb )0 -
And a fire extinguisher is required in Belgium, which reminds me that I need to pop out and buy one for the latest car before I get stopped by Le Plod. What goes around - comes around0
