RBS no longer giving away Air Miles

Just had a letter advising that RBS are withdrawing from the air miles scheme, with effect from 1st April 2006.

Grrrr. Only just opened the account with them to get the airmiles, now I've got to find an alternative.

  • Get a Tesco CC you get 2.4 times as many Air Miles with that per pound!

Not sure if RBS still issue cards with RBS on them, but to clarify this includes MINT cards.

Yes,, I received a letter from MINT today saying that Air Miles has stopped.

Last time I checked Tesco, the Air Miles was about the same - is 2.4 correct and are there any other choices?

    thanks

If the RBS rate is the same as NatWest (as they own them) you get 1 airmile per £20 spent on the card.

Tesco issue clubcard points at 1 point for every £2 you spend (on top of any clubcard points you might have otherwise earnt). Tesco then exchange 250 clubcard points for 60 Air Miles (i.e. a £500 spend).

To get 60 Air Miles from NatWest you would have to spend £1200.

    1200/500 = 2.4

You do not have to convert your Tesco clubcard point to Air Miles, however:

  • If you get a virgin atlantic card you get 1 mile per pound (2k first transaction), but if you pay the £80 anual fee it's 2 per pound (4k first transaction). You can also use them to get discounts with airlines they codeshare with.
