Turned down again for Income Support

I have been getting Incapacity Benefit since last August and have claimed for help with my mortgage but was turned down as they said I had to wait for 39 weeks.
I checked this out and was told that under the new rules I should be eligible after 13 weeks.
I re-applied and was turned down again and was told the same thing.
I have been to a Benefits Advice Centre who lodged an appeal in February and I am still waiting for a reply.
I rang Income Support up to find out when I would hear about the appeal and she said it could take months.
I have paid my mortgage by having payment holidays and used my savings, but I cannot sustain this for months.
I am getting desparate.
Has anyone had a similiar experience?
Thanks

Can you give some details to why your are trying to claim IS and we may be able to help you.
Do you have a partner?
Do you have children?
Do you have savings?
Can you not work?0 -

They get IB, so I'd guess the answer to that is No?
OP, who told you you'd come under the new rules? Perhpas they should explain how they arrived at this advice?0 -

Sorry
As with many of the benefit rules there are exceptions to the 13 week
qualifying period for help with the mortgage. One of the exceptions is that
people in receipt of Incapacity benefit but not Income Support on 05/01/09 would still have to wait the 39 week qualifying period.
Income Support should consider counting the 39 weeks from the first date of your Incapacity Benefit claim. They should be able to give you this date so that you can re claim Income Support at that time.0
