when do accounts become dormant>

Can someone tell me if I have things such as ISAs which I have just invested and left for several years when do they become "dormant". I receive regular statements etc. but before the Building Soc decides they are dormant I presume they contact their investors? Does voting at the AGM constitute "contact" or how does this dormant a/c thing work? Thanks.

There's some useful information here on the British Bankers' Association website which should answer your questions - http://www.bba.org.uk/bba/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=260&a=386&artpage=1
This indicates that accounts become dormant if there's been no activity on them for 15 years and the bank can't get in touch with the account holder.
However, even if an account is declared dormant, you can still always get your money back.0
