EDF kills self-read programme.
Options
When checking out Utility 'best buys' it probably pays to know that, effective 1st April 2009 - significant date?
, EDF will kill its self-read programme. But, hey, they're giving us an alternative - Nectar Points (be still my heart).
From a quick read of their Ts & Cs the maximum value you can accrue is 4000 Nectar Points - and for most of us that's probably not achievable. This, at Sainsbury's current rate is worth about £20; by contrast my last year's self-read saving was £32. And then how much does it actually cost EDF to hand out those 4000 Nectar Points - not anywhere near £20 I'm pretty sure.
So, all in all a nice little saver for EDF and an effective increase for the consumer - and without any of the aggro attached to increasing the utility tariffs. These guys should be politicians.
