Problems with media player

I have a mate whos computer has automatically updated to media player #11. He now can not access his mp3's stored on there. he wants to re-install media player #10 but windows won't allow it. Any ideas?

is this that DRM licence problem?
I had similar problem with the player but not with music as i use media monkey for music.
I can't remember exactly how I got it to work, but I will try to find the solution.
I seem to remember you have to download something from the microsoft website.
EDIT: i remember now why I needed media player to work. It was to use Channel 4's 4od0 -
