Wheel Vibration Probs

    the chances are there was a slight vibration before but as it was on the rear it wouldnt be as noticable, its because its on the front you feel it a lot more as you are holding onto a component (the steering wheel) that is directly attached to the wheels.
  • oooo i once had a car and i rotated the wheels and there was an off vibrating that appeared, it turned out that one of the tyres had been repaired with a bung, it was the bung that was causing the odd feeling

    It's a bad idea - the rear of the car is where you need the most grip. An understeering car is a simple thing for most people to control - an oversteering car, for most people, is a precursor to a big crash.

    This is what I am most conscious about though the only time I see it being a problem is in the wet, as the rear tread won't be able to clear as much water as the fronts. Having said that I never felt the front tyres aquaplane before so there's no reason they'd start now they're on the rear.
  • They will once they're a bit more worn. Grip isn't just about tread depth either - tyres with legal tread depth may be significantly down on grip on both wet and dry surfaces.

    The garage you use is wrong to put the new tyres on the front - they should always be on the rear.

    Fronts and rears were swapped a week ago so new ones are now on front. Fitter said there wasn't any sign of a buckled wheel, and that they look fine.

    Vibration is not as severe but still present at about 70-80 (true speed about 63-70mph).

    Do wheels need to be re-balanced depending which corner of the car they're situated?
