OH has been sent a (fairly large) box of pistachios from an Iranian company that he has helped out (workwise!)
I have never even tasted a pistachio, what do we do with them?
Fairly odd present if you ask me, but, waste not want not I say. I havent seen the box as it never occurred to OH to bring them home, in fact he probably wouldn't have even mentioned them until they were mouldy knowing him. But judging by what he tells me it is a fairly large box.
Could be pistachios for every meal in the Pea house for a while!
Persian (Iranian) pistachios are the best in the world. Persian people will send these as a gift more often than anything else.
They keep fairly well in an airtight container. If yours have not yet been roasted, dip them in salt water and roast for half an hour in the oven. They are gorgeous.
I've eaten them as is, but they can also be used in brownies, flapjacks, on top of ice-cream....
Nigella has a truly scrumptious receipe for something called RoCocoa cake in her Feast book - very chocolately and indulgent - and on the top she sprinkles nibbed pistachios - they look very cute!
