Have pistachios, need help!!

OH has been sent a (fairly large) box of pistachios from an Iranian company that he has helped out (workwise!)
I have never even tasted a pistachio, what do we do with them?
Fairly odd present if you ask me, but, waste not want not I say. I havent seen the box as it never occurred to OH to bring them home, in fact he probably wouldn't have even mentioned them until they were mouldy knowing him. But judging by what he tells me it is a fairly large box.
Could be pistachios for every meal in the Pea house for a while!

Eat them as they come (minus the shell ofcourse!) they are yummy...0

they are gorgeous i first had them in my teens in majorca(a very long time ago!!!!!!) you just break the shell off and eat!!!!!!! emm i wish i had some!!!
best to have a little dish handy to collect all the shells in cos you'll go through loads!!0 -
Just break the shells off them and eat the nut inside. Alternatively you can send them here
and if they send any iranian dates... well definitely send them here!!
Iranian dates are the best i've ever tasted. A lot better then those gooey stringy thin ones you get in supermarket around christmas time....
Not a wierd present from an Iranian point of view. View them as our equivalent of a box of choccies.0 -
if they're not salted you could make pistachio icecream which is possibly the best ice cream ever0

oooh im so jealous!
dont know about recipes, but i know eating too many of them can turn your mouth and fingers a funny red tint (i read the anastasia nofels in my early teens - similar to judy blum - and she was addicted to pistachio nuts, and went red after eating too many )
i've also discovered (after extensive research in the field), that the ones that are slightly green inside always taste the best!!!

I'm jealous too, I love pistachios but they are sooooooo expensive.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
If they are unsalted (and shelled or you are very patient) this is a lovely and easy recipe and will see off 4oz at a time:

You can do the nuts in a food processor and some of them will wind up powdery which gives the bics a nice colour.0 -
add them to stir fries and salads... or just sit in front of the computer and munch.... which is one of my favourite ways to use 'em up0

Thanks everyone for your replies. You have convinced me. I look forward to trying them now, and also the recipes!
Im sure I will be the only person in the house to eat them as OH and DD's dont eat anything with nuts in. (Sounds like their loss!)
It also sounds like I will be the little red one in the corner after eating too many!0 -

Have just found the above recipe, it looks delish! (not sure about the green icing though) but I am going to have a go at this I think.0
