Explorer keeps clicking HELP please

Hi Can anybody help me please, my Explorer is behaving a bit odd, I have Xp home, Norton Internet security and webroot to protect me and have used this software for ages without problem, but now when I click on links on several sites, you hear the usual click but then you hear two or three more as if about 3 things are going on at the same time, basically click a link and click click click as it gets there. What is going on? And just to iritate me further you then have to click two or three times on the back button to return to the page you were on previously.

I have done thorough searches with Norton, Webroot and Trend online but nothing appears amiss there so what is turning the usual one click links into virtualy 2 or 3 steps.

I know there is a fault because I have a wireless network at home and don't experience the problem on the same sites on my daughters laptop

Any help appreciated.
