Do I switch to Ebico?

I have just compared a period of gas readings.
Previous reading was: 5566 and the current: 5662.
I am currently on the standard Eon tariff 6.530 primary and 3.557 secondary, which totals roughly £65. I have had a quick look at the Ebico website as I have read they do one standard tariff across the board - nice and simple. This tariff was 3.675. This tariff price for the same readings comes in at £39.

Am I missing something or is this too good to be true. I really want to get my gas prices down.

What is your opinion on the above, have I worked it out right ??? I feel like switching now !!!!

Yes Jasmin, Ebico gas are cheap for low/medium users, as long as your annual figures pan out...go for it.
Good company, as you say, nice and simple, and Southern Electric, who do the billing have a good service record.
I'm ready to move back to Ebico from Scottish Power.
S.P's Tier 1 rates kill the tariff for low users.

No you are not missing anything. The price for gas with ebico will be 3.675p per kWh from 30 March 2009 - it's currently 3.77p (all prices include VAT)
E.on are not reducing their gas prices.

Now that is a tiny bit more expensive than the E.on tier 2 prices, but you'll have to use a heck of a lot of gas to negate the large tier1 price E.on charge.
You will also lose any hidden discounts E.on may offer (e.g. discount for paying by DD, etc)

But based on your figures, I'm sure you'll be better off with ebico.

We need to know some more information.

You have used 96 gas units so presumably you have a metric meter and that equates to approx 1,075 kWh which is where you get the £39.

You don't say the period of time for those 96 units?

Also I believe E-ON give discounts and Ebico do not

However at those prices it would appear that you would have to use a huge amount of gas for E-ON to be cheaper.

thank you for all your replies. I don't have a full years worth of units to compare but just took an old reading. Even so the difference between Eon and Ebico is amazing. I don't get any discounts from Eon as I have moved by Electric to Eco20:20.

    Ebicon - here I come.

    Thank you,

    Thank you,

Whilst you will almost certainly be better off with Ebico, you cannot simply compare the primary E-ON rate of 6.53p with Ebico's flat rate of 3.675p and conclude that E-ON will charge £65 and Ebico £39.

For instance if those readings were taken over a 2 week period the difference would be approx £5 not £26.

If over a week the difference would be approx £1.50

If you pay by Direct Debit you also get a discount with E-ON

I must say I feel a bit of a fraud - jasmin10 thanked for me just for asking (rather stupidly in hindsight :o ) if they were her annual figures. What a nice lady. :D
