My laptop is constantly out of sync by about 5 mins. When I click on the sync button on Windows, it says 'an error has occurred'. It always says this, is there anyway to sort it?

Thanks

Try a different time server/make sure any 3rd party firewall isn't blocking it

    Hi Posted

I'm using Windows Firewall, how do I check if it's blocking it?

Just tried all the other time servers and all of them come back with the same error. It wouldn't bother me as much if the time didn't shift out of sync so much on the clock.

What servers do you have listed at the moment?

You can add others. I use

    ntp0.uk.uu.net
    ntp.cs.tcd.ie
    ntp2a.mcc.ac.uk

edit: on another PC, I also added these, but I usually stick with the uunet one

    europe.pool.ntp.org
    extntp1.inf.ed.ac.uk

Microsoft has a list of servers around the world, and lists are available elsewhere too.

Just the 5 or 6 that's already on it. How do you add other servers?

I did it by editing the Registry, as I couldn't think of or find another way.

It needs a bit of care doing things in there, but this was reasonably straightforward; if you want some help ask.
