Saturday repairs?

Options
Are these still possible? My cooker (well, the oven part anyway) has gone belly up. Hubbys in the gulf and I currently work mon-fri 9-5 with little chance of time off.
Damn cooker. Now means I'll have to clean it too!

I'm pretty sure they only carry out emergency repairs at a weekend. I don't think being without an oven in classed as an emergency

Being without a working oven (not just one componant failure but entire failure) would count as an emergency. A failed ignition is not an emergency as it can still be lit by a match. Only emergency repairs are undertaken at weekends. Some works can be undertaken in your absence though during the week, but you would have to have someone at the property, have a word with the housing officer, or welfare - Welfare are often very handy for this sort of thing as DE get a bit up tight about being the key holder in case of any liability issues - MHS wont work in the property without the homeowner/representative over the age of 16 being present.
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Thanks for the input guys. Have managed to wangle something at work and it's being fixed on Monday afternoon now. As I'm working everyday until then it'll give me chance to clean it. Mr Muscle has been added to my shopping list...

It could be lit by match but MHS won't advise you to actually do this if you ask them outright if they would like to guarantee its safe to do so. Funny that!

They came today and condemned my cooker. Been pushing for it for months as it was hanging on by a thread when we moved in 6 years ago, they just kept replacing parts though.

Just need to wangle some more time off work to get the new one installed.

Hope you didn't spend to much time cleaning it up for them!

Bettie, you should know by now, wives of soldiers are not supposed to work, they are supposed to be home all day everyday just in case something breaks. If you do happen to work then your entire annual leave balence has to be spent on numerous MHS appointments ... please note the sarcasm :D
