Hi Guys
Is anyone else having trouble with this dreadful company?
My phone provider was Toucan, with whom i had no problems.
They were taken over by pipex uk and i have had nothing but trouble. My bill in one month jumped from the usual £28 to over £96.... seems i was billed for a month in advance as well as a whole load of other stuff.
I have now spoken to them on the phone eleven different times about paying any money i owe them. I thought it had finally been sorted as i had agreed to pay them a set amount each month by way of bank to bank transfer. I have already made one payment as well as a cheque.
They dont update their system and keep sending automated text messages to my landline telling me to call them urgently.
I was so appaulled at pipex that i switched to talk talk on march 10th.... and get this... not only did i yesterday recieve a bill from pipex with the outstanding amount i owe them BUT they had added next months charges too.
Even better... today i recieved a letter from them telling me that as i hadnt paid my outstanding amount in full they were placing a temp barr on my phone preventing me from making outgoing calls..... even though they no longer provide my telephone service. laughable or what?
I contacted ofcom today and lodged a complaint with them but this evening i had another one of the automated text messages to call them urgently... This time i spoke to a call centre in lithuania.... this morning it was a call centre in india.
Now i am no longer having my phone provided by pipex, every time i call them it is costing me 10p a minute.
I cant afford this as i am severely disabled and live on benefits.
If anyone has any advice on how i can resolve this i would be grateful

Sorry I cannot offer any proper advice, I'm also having problems with Pipex overcharging me.

Stop calling the premium rate number - use www.saynoto0870.com.
The number on my bill to call is 0871 663 3300, I call 02380 220 421. I don't pay for these calls as they are landline numbers. Hope this helps.0 -
your not the only one me man was with them and she paid her last bill for toucan and pipex say they never got the payment, so stuck a bar on the line for non payment
which we had prove it was paid and they were having none of it.
each time we rang them we got a different answer from then and now they have stick a £50 fee for disconnernt owning to none payment but she is now with sky0 -
My mum is in exactly the same situation as you, she left on 13th March to got to sky, as pipex cut her off saying she hadnt paid her bill.(but cheque had cleared) Now they've billed her a months in advance even though shes with sky now. So shes got to prove shes with sky, and was told to ring them about any outstanding bills. So she rang them and they hadnt got a clue what she was on about. Also the letter they sent her saying she has to prove shes with sky has no return address on it, so she doesnt know where to send it.
I've told her to contact ofcom now, and was on here looking for info, when I saw this thread. Seems they are an absolute sham of a company. Could you keep the thread informed of how you get on please. Thanks.0 -
i'm glad i'm not the only one having problems with Pipex - i was with Toucan for 2 years never had any problem then Pipex took over :mad:
They changed the payment dates, i sent 2 cheques to clear Feb bill (don't want to give them DD details as they seem completely inept with every other bit of info i give them), they lost one and cashed the other 5 weeks after it was sent, in the meantime they had cut off my phone and broadband service for non payment and then invoiced me to pay upfront for the month they had cut off my service for!
Have rang foreign call centre on several occasions only to go round in circles with someone who simply repeats the same thing off some script and never actually does anything about it. I have refused to pay the outstanding amounts for months where they have cut off my service - don't see why i should pay for something i'm not getting!
I was told i couldn't cancel the boradband service until Dec then when i rang up i was told both phone and broadband had been cancelled at my request and i had to pay £56 cancellation fee for the broadband. If i had continued paying the monthly fee it would only be £63 in total!
I have copies off all the useless standard letters they have sent me so will write to them and will also make a complaint to the watchdog - i've had no phone now for over 2 months because they can't process a cheque!
Absolute sham!

I thought pipex was taken over by a larger company over two years ago, it seems like lots of people are having major issues with nothing but a arm of a bigger company.

We were with Pipex for some years with no problems. As soon as they were taken over by Tiscali things went to the dogs. Their absolutely appalling service and incompetence very quickly drove us away and we are now happily with Orange for landline, mobile and broadband. Have to say they've been faultless. I wouldn't touch Tiscali ever again.0
