  • I remember MrsE had a similar problem with black crud from her persian cats eyes - do you think it is secretions from his eyes? I think its a common problem with bracycephalic animals, ie. animals with an unnaturally shortened skull.
  • Hi, thank you for replying. It's definately not from his eyes, they are clean and nothing comes out of them. I've been watching him today and have come to the conclusion it is because he likes to have his nose in everything, especially the soil in the garden. I think it's just general dirt :rotfl: . I will ask the vet in a few weeks when we go, just to make sure x

Hi. I have a 2 year old Pug. wouldn't worry, its normal for them to collect all manner of crud in the folds above their nose. we do her every couple of days with a baby wipe or she looks like she is growing another nose! If it looks a bit dry we put a bit of vaseline on her nose to keep it moist. How old is yours? has he started to shed hair yet. Usually at 4 or 5 months they start and then out go the black clothes and in come the beige.

Mine's almost 5 but he still acts like a puppy :o The vet once commented that he couldn't believe a dog of his age was so bouncy and hyper lol. I have been cleaning his nose with baby wipes about every other day, and when he lets me also been putting vasaline on it.
Have also noticed all the hair he puts everywhere lol :D
