I am interested in trying one of the party planning type of things but I'd love to know exactly how much people make from them before actually parting with my money!;)
Anyone willing to disclose their monthly/annual income from these things?

Evening Cookie Monster
I am an Avon Rep (since Sept 07).
I deliver a brochure every 3 weeks (ish) to around 50 customers, this has been whittled down from around 250 houses that I was allocated in the begining.
I pay around £5 for the brochures. You can earn 20% of sales if you order £78 ish and 25% of sales when your order £146 ish.
Generally I earn £50-100 in commission each 3 weeks.
It has been as low as £20 and as high as £150.
I use the money for holiday spending money and birthday pressies.

Hi - there's nothing to be scared of being registered as self-employed. It's not as scary as it sounds! You can earn a certain amount each year before paying tax on your income (I don't know the exact amount, I think it's around £6,000). If you ring up HMRC they are really helpful and you can even go on free workshops which will help you with your self assessment etc. You will have lots of support and can find out all the information you need.
I've been doing Avon for a few months now and would say it's worth doing it for a bit of extra money. As shipr!!!95 said, expect to earn £50-£100 every 3 weeks. You can sell to your friends and family too, so that helps build up your commission.Thank you so much to everyone who post & help with comps! :j

Hi, I work for Silverline jewellery and do very well from it. You mentioned about finding out more before parting with any money. There are party plan companies which don't have any initial outlay or hidden extras, Silverline being one of them.
I think there is a thread headed up "Partyplan" in the "up your income" section that may gave you some further details on the other companies. Having looked at lots of other companies before choosing Silverline my advice would be to check out all the facts first before committing.
With regards to the self employed part there is nothing scary about it. I'm not wanting to disclose what I earn on this thread but what I will say is that for the amount of time I work it's fantastic. It's also great fun and never feels like work.
If you would like more details pm me.Apr wins - £70 :jMay Wins - £350 :T June wins - £579
July Wins - £1772  Aug Wins - Benecol Bag, Clynol Goodies, James Bond Ltd Edt poster, Another Nokia 5800, 2 x mars dvds, Pentel pen, Avon Lipstick X 2, Cadillac Records CD and DVD, Bourjois lipgloss & sungalsses, Pink Panther 2 dvd, audiobooks, Miraclegro liquafeed, Ice age 3 goodies0 -
I have also been doing party plan for just over 2years now - I work with PartyLite.
I also do a full-time job but hopefully soon will be giving this up to do party plan full-time.
Party Plan is slightly different from Avon/betterware etc as you need to find the parties so if you don't have alot of contacts to start with then can be slow and you have to put the time and effort into building it up - you need to treat it as a business in order to make proper money.
I will not disclose on here what I earn but can truly say I was very surprised at how much money you can make doing party plan.
The company I work for as no initial outlay you get a kit worth £300 but you don't earn any commission on the first £300 of sales so this clears your kit. I will say though an average party is £300 so you uually clear this on your first party if you have planned it correctly.
need any more info on partyLite or just party plan in general please ak away.I get paid to party!:rotfl:0 -
I've got my launch party this evening. I know what happens if I don't make £300 to clear the kit but what happens to the extra if I get more than £300.
Will I get this or my team leader who is demonstrating at the party.:T0 -
Lindylou, if your starter show is over £300 you get to spend that in products. Eg, if your sales at your starter show are £450 then you get to pick £150 of products from the catalogue for yourself!!
In answer to the original question. On average I earn about £400 a month from PartyLite on my personal sales.Murphy's No More Pies Club Member No. 680 -

absolutely nowtBy the time I worked out my spending on the kit and additional items for my kit, business tools, postage on each delivery and petrol etc my profit was £0
I have done BSAH since September and haven't been doing loads of parties and things have dried up recently but my overall sales were well over £3K. I think you have to treat it like a business and really focus on it if you want to make any money. At present I have £100's of BS products in my house but not many pennies in my pocket. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
The main thing with partyplan/direct sales is to choose a product you love and are proud to sell. Don't go for the most commission or the one you think will sell well where you live. Look at the targets - does it fit in with what you want to do.
I 've been doing partyplanning for 2 1/2 years and earn variable amounts each month. I have a team and earn hundreds from them each month, as well as commission on whatever I sell.
One afternoon I made a £9000+ sale and earnt enough to pay my mortgage for three months.0
