Can Anyone Switch?

A relation in Scotland is on Scottish Gas and says he can't switch gas because the developer installed the scheme using some sort of fixed contract supply for the pipes and meter, not Transco he says. Seems odd to me. I don't want to interfere too much but could this be correct? It's a 1 year old house in a quite large private scheme. Do you have to be on Transco to be able to switch supplier?

    strange rules apply in Scotland!

Transco arn't called that any more they are called National Grid - although all the vans still say Transco!

not sure about supplier, surely if nothing is signed you can get ur gas from anyone, who say's he/she can't?

it's still supplied by the same people anyway as i understand it, just billed via a different route :o
  • That's what I thought, he's not too clued up so may have got muddled but he was certain that he can't switch.
