Hi
I plan to switch to another provider to save a couple of hundred £££s. I'm currently looking at the simply switch site.
Do I need to call Scottish Power/Gas to cancel, or is this done when I go on the switching sites and sign up for something else?
Also, I am in credit with Scottish Power for something like £250. How do I get this back?
Thanks

Your new supplier will contact your old one and when the final bill comes through they will refund the credit.0

If you are paying by direct debit at the moment make sure you cancel that when the switch takes place as its only you that can cancel a DDMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

The Originator (i.e. the supplier) should end the DD instuction when they collect their final payment for their final bill by using AUDDIS transaction code 19.
Whether they will or not is anyone's guess as not many people seem to fully understand the DD scheme properly. I do know that E.on correctly do this when they collect their payment on a final bill (or at least they did with me).
It's worth checking with your bank once all is paid to ensure the DDI is no longer active."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I've highlighted the reason why I always cancel the DD myself.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I have to say I always cancel the DD once I've been issued with the final bill, that way the discount is still on it but I always pay it by cheque/debit card. Maybe a sign of paranoia but we all have our foibles/personality disorders, I suppose....Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0
