Help on 1st ever Credit Card

Hi all,
Basically ive never had a credit card before due to never needing one, and to be honest i still dont really need one. But ive been told that in the future, without ever having a credit card, im not going to have a credit rating.
Basically i was going to get a credit card, just buy my petrol on it, then pay it off at the end of the month.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on which one to go for.
