Don't see why notPut a sheet of greaseproof into the pastry before adding the "beans" or they may stick
I'll add this to the existing thread on alternatives to baking beans later.

I have a tub of red lentils that I started using years ago and keep re-using - I just wouldn't recommend trying to eat them now :rolleyes:Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
My grandma had a jar of dried peas she kept for this purpose...
I wouldn't use marbles TBH because they are so big. I use ceramic baking beans and just reuse them.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

After I'd forked out for baking beads from Lakeland I read a tip about using a (clean!) dog lead - metal so conducts the heat well and super easy and quick to coil up. Not having a dog I don't know how a new lead compares to the beans price wise, but if I hadn't already ordered something for blind baking I would have looked into it.
Can't remember for the life of me where I read the tip though.0
