Reinstallation of XP

Hi Everyone,
I'm going to reinstall XP onto my Dell. I've been reading a lot today about this and think I have all the steps planned.
One question though: I have the original hard drive on which I keep all my program files and a second drive which was subsequently added on which I keep 'my documents' and all my data files.
All of my data is backed up but will the reinstallation affect the second drive or will the second drive mean I have to do the installation differently?
Thanks
SB

The number of drives won't affect the way that Windows is installed (although drive letters may change, depending on how the drives are partitioned). Just make sure you install XP on an empty partition and don't inadvertently delete your personal data!0

I wouldn't have thought there would be any problems, if it's the same operating system on the same drive, there should be no issues. You may want to wait for another opinion though, I'm no expert.0

You will get the choice as to where to install Windows, but it should be back onto your 'C' drive.
You will have to repoint your My Docs folder once the install is finished as it will default to the My Docs on the C drive.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thanks for your replies.
I need to ensure I can get back on the web after I've reinstalled. I'm with Virgin and use a wired Speedtouch 330 modem. I have all the Virgin Broadband settings but don't have the install CD for the modem. I've tried to download the driver from the Thomson website (which Virgin points you to) without success. I could request another CD by post but I'd like to get on with there install. Are there any ways rounds this?
Thanks

download a program called driver genius and backup your drivers before the install. back them up to the same drive your personel files are on to avoid them getting wiped. when the install is done and you plug the modem in and it asks you for a driver you can either point it to the drivers you saved during the backup or i think you can re-install the drivers using driver genius.0 -
Control F11 on a Dell at startup will sometimes take you to a screen where you can restore factory settings.
If so, this will take you back to the day your dell arrived.
Far quicker (no system drivers to install) than a clean install but it does come with all the bloatware which Dell shoves onto a new pc.
Speedtouch 330 drivers here

Thanks - the Dell tip is really helpful. I'll try that as a first step I think.0 -
